Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day and three-day weekend. It is hard to believe we only have two weeks of school left! Next Monday is a full school day, but Tuesday through Friday we will be on the half day schedule. The students will not have lunch at school on those half days. If your student is not planning on being at school on the last day, please let me know so I can ensure they take all their belongings with them before the end of the week.
There will be no more reading groups for the remainder of the school year.
Here is a peek at what we will be learning the last two weeks of the school year:
Literature: Students will continue to listen to stories from the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner.
Science: We will conclude our Astronomy Unit with constellation report presentations. We will also be learning about famous astronauts and their historic missions into space.
History: We will continue learning about Mexican traditions and culture. On the last day of school, we will be celebrating with an end of the year Fiesta! More details regarding the Fiesta will be sent out soon!
Have a great week!

Week of May 5, 2014
Parents,
I am glad to
be back in the classroom with your students!
Being away for three months, I’ve noticed a big change in how much they
have grown both physically and academically.
I am very pleased with how hard they have worked this year. It is hard to believe the school year is
almost over and they will soon be going on to second grade!
Don’t
forget, tonight is Fine Arts Night at Archway starting at 5pm. I hope to see you there!
There is No School this Friday, May 9th.
Mrs. Narens
is looking for a parent volunteer.
Please read her message below:
Parents we are in need
of a volunteer to help sort Q4 art for our class' portfolios. If you are
interested please sign up below. Mrs. Narens can send this home to be done at
home and returned.
Here is a look at the week ahead:
Literature: We will be
reading some of the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne. Later in the week, students will be making
stick puppets of the characters and acting out some of the stories.
Science: We will be continuing our space unit with a
review of the planets and a closer look at constellation myths. Each student will write a report about a
constellation and will share their report with the class.
History: As part of our
unit on Modern Mexico, we will be celebrating and learning the history behind
Cinco de Mayo. We will also be learning about other Mexican holidays and
traditions.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
