Week of March 24, 2014

Important News:

Tuesday March 25th we have our Spring Concert at Grace Community Church at
5:30 p.m. *Students should be there and ready at 5 p.m.

March 31- April 4- Stanford Testing
Please make sure your child arrives on time to school and has had a good breakfast. Testing starts everyday at 8:50 a.m.  Also, please do not schedule doctor or other appointments for the mornings during these two weeks.  
No volunteers before noon during testing days.

This week:

History: In History, we will be examining the purpose of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. We will look at obstacles they encountered and how they prepared for their journey out west. We will be reading parts of Lewis and Clark- A Journey West by William Fruge.  

Science: We are studying The Earth. We are going to be learning about volcanoes and the different types. We will be learning about a Shield Volcano, Cinder Cone Volcano, and Composite Volcano.

Literature/Reading: In Literature this week we will be discussing the saying “Never leave Till Tomorrow What Can Be Done Today.” We will also read the folktale, The Boy at the Dike. This folktale we will be talking about Heroes and how each of them can make a difference. We are continuing to read My Father’s Dragon during reading groups.


Riggs: This week’s lessons will be 125-129.
