Upcoming Events:
Field Day is on Wednesday, March 5 for kindergarten and
1st grade. Students do not need to wear their uniforms on Field Day as long as
they wear athletic clothes. Students are also permitted to bring hats and
sunglasses. Please remember to put sunscreen on your child. Please note that
while this is a fun day for the children, unfortunately we cannot have parents
who are not signed up to volunteer come and watch. The events will begin at
8:15 A.M. and will end around 11:30 A.M. If you are able to volunteer your time
and have your fingerprint clearance card from Great Hearts, please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0A4EAFAC23AB9-archway.
Spring Break is March 8-16.
Literature: This week we are reviewing some of the
Brother Grimm fairytales they have read this year. Students will discuss all
the elements that make up a fairytale. I will be
checking homework a little more closely and expecting high quality work.
Students should be writing sentences that are interesting, creative and detailed.
Science: This is our last week of studying the ocean.
Students will learn about coral habitats. Students will also explore the
different kinds of animals that thrive in this habitat. Students will also
learn where seashells come from and be able to sort the different kinds of
seashells. Last week Dr. Cheroske came in to teach us the different kinds of
sea life animal classifications. He brought in many unique species. It was an
amazing presentation and the students really found it fascinating.
History: This week students will learn the important
roles of a president. We discuss the
white house, seal of the president and Washington D.C.
